::You scared me, Peanut::
It absolutely freaks me out when people sleep with their eyes open. Today this sweet little gem fell asleep with his peepers unclosed.
His eyes were almost completely open; I could even see him going cross-eyed. He would occasionally turn to look at me and make his eyes into tiny slits. Was he really asleep? Was he pretending? Then he stopped moving, his little body just still, his eyes staring ahead unfocused. I had stared at him for so long that my eyes began to play tricks on me, and I thought he had stopped breathing. My blood turned cold. I called his name just like the frantic people in the movies do, and I checked his vitals.
Of course I was flipping out over nothing, but in that moment I was convinced something was really wrong with him! He was fine and breathing well, but I called over the other teacher to confirm that Peanut was indeed just sleeping. : )

Miss Photogenic, even though you're prone to going crazy and having epic meltdowns, the two year~old class just wouldn't be the same without you. You're spunky, witty, quick...and just plain cute! : )

I agree about the sleeping with the eyes open. When my babes are newborn they tend to always have their eyes slightly open -- I quickly (and gently) brush my hand over those eyes. Those eye lids need to be closed!

ReplyDeleteand i agree about sleeping with eyes open. i've never actually seen it, but it would still freak me out. seriously. creepy. how is that even possible?? ;)
